One time his General Manager asked him not to take it on flights with him when the team wasn't playing well because it looked bad. He made the adjustment and started storing his guitar with all the luggage. He felt that having the guitar gave him a consistency that wasn't related to his performance on the field. "It was a constant that kept me centered and was a big part of team culture away from the field."
He's jammed regularly with other MLB musicians like Barry Zito, Bronson Arroyo, and Omar Vizquel. Classically-trained, Latin Grammy-Nominee guitarist Bernie Williams even invited him to his secret jam room at Yankee Stadium before retiring. His music and career overlapped to the point of Ben hitting a game-winning home in extra innings in order for him to make his sold out show at the House of Blues in Cleveland. Broussard also played with bass player Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel, King Crimson), sang 'God Bless America' to a sold-out Memorial Day crowd in the San Francisco Giants' stadium, and continues to play originals at festivals and venues around the Austin-area today.
Ben shares his unique worldview in speaking engagements and music venues. Contact him for details or with your booking requests.
